Ms. Donna Wagner Bio
Ms. Donna Wagner is currently the Algebra 1 and Conceptual Science teacher at South Pointe High School (SPHS). She is entering her fourth year as a teacher at SPHS and has also taught Chemistry, Physical Science, Statistics, Geometry, and Algebra 2 . She has an associate and bachelor degree in science in the profession of dental hygiene. Ms. Wagner also acquired a master’s degree in educational leadership from Northern Arizona University and graduated with Distinction in 2016.
Ms. Wagner worked in clinical practice as a dental hygienist for over twenty years, and then entered the education profession. She believes that education is a lifelong journey regardless of age. Ms. Wagner's former position as a dental hygiene clinical instructor was at a technical college where she instructed students in the clinic with their patients. Her greatest accomplishment in this position included remediating seven students who were in jeopardy of not graduating from the program. They all went on to pass their state board clinical exam.
Ms. Wagner’s current position at SPHS continues her journey in educational leadership. She has been known to instruct leadership in and out of the classroom. Last year the Audubon Society hired one of her students for the first time for a summer internship part time job where the Audubon Society will train the student to help collect data for the society’s needs. Ms. Wagner promoted this opportunity and wants to continue this trend for the 2019/2020 school year..
Ms. Wagner is passionate about student retention in completing educational goals and takes pride in the students and the school when students are successful. Her goals include maintaining strong communication skills to provide academic support and improve student success. Ms. Wagner also understands the importance of being a contributing faculty team member with a collaborative spirit in providing a safe and positive environment to promote learning.
