Checkout this video that was presented at the LeonaGroup PLC. The "math modeling" that takes place in Mr. Henry's class was very impressive! Check out how his students are able to apply math concepts to explain a real world problem that was presented to them. This video show 1) how well our students were able to articulate their thoughts and 2) the variety of ways they were able to model their answers. Great job, Mr. Henry and class!
SPHS is celebrating six years in providing a link from South Pointe Jr High to South Pointe High School in the Bridge Program. We welcome SPJH eighth graders daily to take English Foundations and Algebra Foundations classes for high school credit and to help in their preparation for their incoming Freshman year and beyond. Our current freshmen serve as mentors and tutors to provide peer to peer support. Many of our Bridge students test into our Honors classes and, in turn, become our peer tutors for the next year!
Check out their performance here!
MEChA encourages others to find the hero in themselves and donate blood to save lives. Today was the 2nd of the 3 blood drives they hold yearly. MEChA would like to thank those of you that donated! They would also like to remind those that donated and those that missed this one to please consider donating on April 6th!
South Pointe High had visitors from South Pointe Elementary. The theme for the visit was, "I will go to College!" These 5th graders got a taste of high school and what it feels like to graduate and set goals for beyond high school.
